A Fun & Heartwarming Tokyo Travel Spot You Shouldn’t Miss!

Sugamo

Looking for a unique place to visit in Tokyo? Something relaxing, full of culture, delicious food, and a little bit quirky? Come with me to Sugamo — a neighborhood that’s lovingly called the “Harajuku for Grandmas.”

But don’t be fooled! Sugamo is for everyone — travelers like us who love discovering local gems, families traveling together, and even barkadas searching for a fun and different side of Tokyo. Why You'll Love Sugamo Sugamo has a cozy and friendly vibe — a nice break from the busy Shibuya and Shinjuku. Here, locals walk slowly, stores feel like home, and everything reminds you that simple joys are the best. 😊

Don’t Miss These Spots!

Jizo-dori Shopping Street

A long stretch of traditional shops selling Japanese snacks, cute souvenirs, and clothing (including the famous red underwear for good luck! 🔴😁)

Togenuki Jizo

Togenuki Jizo Statue at Koganji Temple Rub water on the part of the statue where you need healing — a meaningful stop for all ages.

Sugamon the Duck Sugamo’s adorable mascot! You’ll find merch, posters, and even a big fluffy Sugamon near the station.

Sugamo Station is super accessible via JR Yamanote Line or Toei Subway Mita Line — very convenient! Taste the Local Flavors

Sugamo is full of food stalls perfect for merienda lakwatsa! A few must-tries:

• Shio-Daifuku — sweet mochi with a hint of salt • Freshly grilled street snacks • Old-style bakeries and cafes • Family-run restaurants serving home-cooked meals 😋

Trust me, you’ll enjoy walking here while eating and browsing at the same time! Our Stay: Sugamo Winco Residences

We stayed at Sugamo Winco Residences — very affordable and perfect for multigenerational family trips like ours!
